What’s the difference between a Group Retreat and a Private Retreat?
InRetreat offers two different retreat types: Group Retreats and Private Retreats. Group retreats are custom all-inclusive wellness travel packages in top eco-destinations around the world. There are usually 10-12 guests on the retreat and it is open to anyone to book, meaning that there are a mix of solo travellers and friends/couples. Private retreats are fully customised itineraries for solo travellers, or closed groups (2-12) who want the InRetreat experience, but exclusively for themselves. Private retreats can be with, or without, an InRetreat guide.

What is a group retreat?
Group retreats are the ‘classic’ InRetreat experience: Nina scouts the location, finds the perfect accommodation and the best guides in the area. She builds partnerships with authentic stakeholders and starts curating an all-inclusive itinerary and retreat package. She takes time and care to craft a once-off and life-defining experience with set dates for a group size of 10-12. Nina travels with the group as the InRetreat guide; there are daily wellness sessions (yoga & meditation) in addition to the exceptional travel itinerary.
Who books a group retreat?
Group retreats are open booking retreats, and every body - gender, age, nationality, fitness level - are welcome to join if the experience calls them. Usually, there is a mix of solo travellers, and friends or mother/daughter or husband/wife groups within the group. Often, people book retreats with a specific intention in mind, or at a specific juncture in their life. It is meaningful, intentional group travel.
What is a private retreat?
Private retreats are bespoke, intentional trips curated by Nina for you. It is common that guests ask Nina to curate a customised retreat itinerary for them at a location we have run a group retreat at previously. It is also common that Nina researches and curates a bespoke and life-defining experience for guests to locations we have not yet run group retreats at. Private retreats are on your terms, to your budget, your dates, your preferences. You can chose to have an InRetreat guide with you, or not.
Who books a private retreat?
Private retreats are often booked by people who are craving a solo trip that is planned for them end-to-end. It is also booked by guests who are celebrating something special - a milestone birthday with just their friends, an anniversary bucket-list trip, a family reunion. The common thread is that guests who book private retreats with InRetreat want an exceptional experience, and want Nina to plan it for them to make sure everything runs smoothly.
Which is right for me?
It really depends on the type of experience you want, the current portfolio of InRetreat group retreats, your dates/availability, and your budget.
Firstly, it may be case that a group retreat you really resonate with is running over set dates that clash with your availability. Maybe you can only take leave over a very specific time frame and the dates we have set for the retreat to run over are just not suitable for you. But, you really want to experience the destination and activities we have put together to craft the unique, life-defining retreat package. In this case, you can request the same retreat itinerary with us over the dates that do suit you, and this would be a private retreat - you can do this solo, or with friends/family of your choosing.
Or, maybe you have a specific milestone to celebrate - then a private retreat is often the perfect choice. Perhaps you are craving a solo experience - some quiet and alone time? In this case, a private retreat is best.
However, sometimes we may be seeking to enjoy travel with the company of like-minded travellers. Group retreats are a wonderful way to connect, make new friends and learn about other cultures and careers. Our group retreats are almost always multi-national and guests are over a wide range of ages. The breaking of bread together as a group of strangers in this way is enriching and important in our current world of isolation and digitisation.
Lastly, it worth noting that group retreats can offer very specific experiences that we only run on the set dates with the group retreat and cannot replicate for a private retreat. It is also possible that a group retreat is more affordable than a private retreat option, because we package the itinerary based on 10-12 guests, generally bringing the overall costs down. That said, if you have a specific budget and want a private retreat, tell us, and we’ll curate an experience that meets your budget :-)
