Be prepared to shake off the cobwebs and let your heart fly across the page as Betty guides us towards a new perspective on and an exploration into lightness - above, below, within and without.

Yoga & poetry

Thrive on daily yoga and meditation with acclaimed international yoga instructor, Nina. Each morning we’ll thrive in a transformative, strengthening and uplifting Vinyasa session. In the evenings, we’ll wind down with a delicious blend of relaxing Yin and poetry reading. Nina’s teaching style is accessible and adaptable to the needs of our retreat group. There is no judgment or pressure placed on attendance or performance.

Regional produce

Throughout the retreat, all meals will be prepared by a private chef on site, and will comprise mostly of regional, seasonal and organic produce. We will have a delicious, nutritious vegetarian brunch, and dinner together. Throughout the day healthy snacks, coffee, tea and water is available. Nina will also source some regional wines for those who want to try with dinner.

A digital detox

Discover a region in France that is surprising, wild and unspoilt. Our retreat is set in a nature reserve, with very low population density, rich historical significance and stunning natural beauty. You are invited to slow down and experience being in a place, rather than passing through it. You are invited to set aside your devices and tune into another frequency - that of light, sky, birds, trees and rivers.

Authentic Lozère

Your retreat guide, Nina, visited the Grands Causses Regional Nature Park to scout the location, meet the venue owners, and get a sense of this unique region. This retreat is carefully curated, informed by this research. You are invited to sit back, trust the process and soak up the splendour around you. We will be embarking on two excursions - a river float and a guided hike to the unforgettable Point Sublime.

“It’s clear that Nina chooses her retreat locations with great care to create the best possible experience. The beauty of the setting was truly mind-blowing, giving me an immediate sense of gratitude and deep relaxation. The six-day retreat and its daily program, including three hours of meditation and yoga practice, helped me nourish both mind and body. It also supported me in anchoring my yoga practice more deeply into my everyday life long after the retreat ended, creating a lasting impact.”

— JANINE, 2025

“Our trip with InRetreat was nothing short of magical! The whole experience--from our delectable meals and scenic lodging to varied excursions and yoga sessions--was perfectly curated. Nina is a seasoned traveler and drew on her deep well of experiences to expertly guide our group of 10 for a five-day retreat in Greece. The experience goes well beyond what is listed on the itinerary. She made a special occasion all the more memorable.”

— KIMBERLEY, 2026

“This past week was filled with laughter, heartwarming stories, insightful conversations, moments of vulnerability, self-renewal, and the forging of deep connections with fellow retreat participants who quickly became friends. Nina's calming and secure energy not only permeated the yoga classes but also extended to the entire group. She created a safe space where we could fully embrace our authentic selves, free from judgment or inhibition.”

Where this retreat is located

GRANDS CAUSSES REGIONAL NATURAL PARK

The Grands Causses is a vast, rugged and unspoilt 327,000 hectare area of protected wilderness in the Aveyron department of France. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its argo-pastoral cultural landscape, a Natura 2000 area, and officially recognized as a Dark Sky Reserve, meaning that it has remarkably low amounts of light pollution. It is uniquely wild for Europe, and tucked away from the tourist traps common to southern France. This region is characterized by its dramatic limestone gorges, the most notable of which is Gorge du Tarn, which our retreat venue overlooks - a true wonder, with almost mythical looking stone structures, an endless sweep of steep cliffs below a high-alitude plateau, and a thriving population of eagles, vultures and falcons. The region is also known for traditional sheep-farming villages and is the protected designation of origin of Roquefort cheese.

May is a wondrous time, with spring in full bloom. It is generally sunny and crisp, but rains can occur. Average temperatures: maximum 18℃/ 64℉ - minimum 8℃/ 46℉.

ALMIÈRES RETREAT

A true nature escape, Almières, is set on a high altitude plateau, with breathtaking views over the Gorges du Tarn, and nestled in the heart of a Regional Nature Park. It is the home of yoga teacher and entrepreneur, Marise and sound therapist, Monia. As soon as you arrive there, you are invited to step back in time, as the estate dates back to 1739, and offers a true escape from the bustle of modern city life. Almieres (meaning ‘soul light’) exudes a very tasteful blend of understated luxury and rustic charm. There is a deeply restful continuity between original materials, and clean, bright, thoughtful architectural interventions. There are just 5 guest suites, making it an intimate and exclusive retreat, inviting guests to take on a digital detox, meaningfully connect with the present moment, and the raw beauty of nature around. Between yoga sessions, soothing massages, and meals, days flow gently with forest walks, riverside strolls, hot baths and saunas.

Déjà vu

Déjà vu is a French phrase meaning ‘already seen’ that describes the strange, sudden feeling that you have already lived through or experienced your exact current moment.

First use: Named by French philosopher Émile Boirac in the late 19th century.

Our creative explorations will take us inside our own universes, which we often do not dive into as we are constantly looking outwards. Yet we live half of our lives with eyes closed: sometimes dreaming, sometimes having nightmares, often not remembering. Light and darkness. We can also daydream, which is heavenly, if we give ourselves that time and space - and wingspan (instead of the technological term ‘bandwidth’!). We are constantly memory-making, how do we then decide which ones stay and shape us? Through creative, artistic spontaneity we can go beyond thought processes and let our instincts take flight. We will give shape to words, creating new ways of writing and describing, reviewing what we think we know, that ‘already seen’ part of us. In this magical setting, intertwined with yoga and breath and inhaling in French skies, it will be all about not just what we look at but what we see.
